Influenster Holiday VoxBox 2012

I received a Holiday VoxBox 2012 from Influenster (read more about them here on my blog) right before Christmas.  I was very excited to open the box and look at each item.
The NYC lip gloss didn't make it into the picture by accident but I show it in my video below.

I am very excited to try each product.  I already own 2 of the lip glosses and love them!  I also own several (okay 12) different kinds of the Kiss Nail Dress nail stickers and I love them too.  Here are some pics of the Kiss Nail Dress set from my box.

I can't wait to try some of the other stuff.  I will let you know what I think of everything after I have had a chance to try it.  See you soon :)

Kiss Nail Dress- My Nail Looks

I was first introduced to Kiss Nail Dress from Influenster when a set came in my first VoxBox.  You can read all about Influenster in a previous post on my blog and learn more in several videos on my YouTube channel.  I fell in love with the product and I now own 12 different designs of these nail stickers.  The following are various manicures and nail looks I did with Kiss Nail Dress nail stickers.  Watch the full video linked below to learn more.

This sticker was applied over nail polish and it worked wonderfully.

I do not know the names of each design because I discarded all of the packaging.  You can find the design names and numbers on Kiss' webpage at http://www.kissnaildress.com/

Snowman Polishes

These Snowman polishes are so darn cute I can hardly stand it!  I received them in a swap I did recently.  The girl I swapped with purchased them at Rit Aid this holiday season.  Neither of them have specific color names on them.  They both just say Snowman on the bottom.  I think the bottles are just darling.  The snowman's hat twists off and that is what you hold to paint with.  These glitters are so fun and unique to my collection.  The bottles themselves are just fun to display as well.  They are only a couple bucks each and worth every penny if you ask me.
This pretty blue and purple glitter is painted in two coats over Wet n Wild Through the Grapevine.  This glitter is big and has uneven, jagged shapes that almost look like tiny torn up pieces of glitter or shards of sparkle.

I have gotten so many compliments on this nail look.  It seems like people are just as attracted to glitter as I am!  I painted two coats of this green and red glitter over China Glaze Poinsettia and Holly Day.

My First Try with Fimo Slices

I have always loved polymer clay and have long been fascinated with Fimo canes and slices.  The details that clay artists can achieve with rolling the clay and the colors they use fascinates me.  I tried making a cane back when I used to dabble in polymer clay and Sculpey.  I did a ladybug cane that was less than perfect and that was the only time I tried it.  When I became interested in nail art I began to see Fimo canes being used with acrylic nails.  Needless to say I was interested right away in trying it for myself on my natural, short nails.  I ordered some Fimo cane slices in various fruit, flower and animal shapes from ebay at about $.99 a wheel to play with.  This is just one of the wheels.

This manicure was my first try.  I used 3 flower slices on my ring fingers after I applied two coats of polish in Pacific Blue by Sally Hansen and let them dry.

Then I applied 1 coat of clear polish.  While it was still wet I grabbed the slices with tweezers and laid them on the wet nail where I wanted them to go.  As the polish dries the slices want to curl up so with the tweezers I carefully pushed the edges down for about 30 seconds.  I then added 2 thick coats of a fast dry topcoat to each nail.  My favorite is Seche Vite.

The topcoat smooths everything down very well.

The slices stayed on my nail perfectly the entire time I wore the polish.  I did not have any snagging, lifting or anything else.  I think I did pretty well for my first time.  I am very excited to try using the cane slices again soon.  I think the lemon and lime fruit shapes will be fun for the Summer time.

Crafting with Nail Polish- Candy Cane Clothes Pins

I love nail polish!  Lately I have been trying to think of ways to use my too-many-bottles of polish for things other than my nails.  This idea came to me when I was looking for a way to hang and display my Christmas cards from ribbon.  I had seen people clipping them on and over the ribbon with clothes pins.  Plain clothes pins seemed so boring, so I thought I could spruce them up with nail polish.  It works!
The materials I used are pictured below.  You must use wooden clothes pins as plastic will not work.  I got mine at the local hardware store.
I primed my pins with one coat of clear polish, then added 2 coats of white nail polish.
I then just used my polishes and striper polishes to make candy cane type designs.  Any colors you want to use will work.  Try your favorite color polish, glitters, and whatever else strikes you fancy.
You can watch the full tutorial that I will link at the end of this post.  Below are just a few ideas that I have for how to use these darling clothes pins.
 Place Cards
Label your dish on a buffet
Hang holiday cards and family pics
 Hang stockings and holiday decor
 Spruce up a holiday wreath
Keep a special recipe safe while cooking.

You can probably think of lots and lots more ideas...
Are they not cute?  They are super colorful and shiny!  Let me know if you give these a try!

3 Julie G Holiday 2012 Polishes

These are swatches of 3 of the Julie G Holiday 2012 collection polishes.  They are available at Rite Aid stores.  I was given these is a swap.  On the whole these polishes are easy to apply and highly glossy. Both photos are showing 2 coats of the nail polish.
This is the color Gift Wrapped with 1 coat of the glitter polish in this collection called Light It Up.  Light It Up is very similar to the glitter polishes like Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday, OPI rainbow Connection, etc.

This one is called Under Mistletoe.  I have done same nail art on the accent finger with fimo slices and a China Glaze polish.  You can watch a tutorial of how to apply the fimo slices on my YouTube channel.
